Dating Question

The dating question I'm most often asked is 'where should we go on a first date?'

A very good dating question! One of the things to remember is, particularly with Internet dating, you may have corresponded a lot by email and even spoken on the phone but you still don't really know this person. With this in mind you really should choose a public place for safety reasons.

I'm not really in favour of too ostentatious a venue for an initial date, and I don't really think the drinking of alcohol is a good idea, so I wouldn't choose a bar. A coffee shop is always where I suggest an initial date takes place. Indeed, as I've mentioned in other articles on this site, I think it's a good idea to decide in advance that the first date is going to be on the short side - just enough time to form a meaningful first impression but not enough time for any really awkward silences to creep in - so a coffee bar on a coffee break fills the bill nicely!
